FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can therapy help?
Therapy is a space designed just for you—a place to talk openly, feel heard, and work through challenges without judgment. It can help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and learn practical tools to cope with stress, anxiety, or other difficulties. Over time, therapy can support you in building confidence, improving relationships, and creating positive changes in your life. Whether you’re facing a specific issue or just want to feel more balanced and fulfilled, therapy offers guidance and support every step of the way.
How long will I need to participate in therapy before I feel better?
Therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all process because everyone comes in with unique experiences, needs, and feelings about getting help. My goal is to work with you in a way that feels right for you and supports your goals. If you have a specific timeline or expectations, please share them with me so we can plan together. Some approaches, like EMDR, may help reduce symptoms more quickly than traditional talk therapy, and we can discuss what might be the best fit for your situation.
What can I expect to happen in a therapy session?
A typical therapy session is a safe space for you to talk about what’s on your mind and how you’ve been feeling. We usually start by checking in about your week and anything important you’d like to share. From there, we work together to explore your thoughts and emotions, understand patterns that might be causing stress, and find practical ways to cope. Sometimes this includes learning new skills, practicing strategies, or just taking time to reflect. Toward the end, we’ll review what stood out during the session and talk about any steps you’d like to try before we meet again. The goal is to support you in feeling heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes.
How often will we meet?
When we first start working together, we’ll usually meet about once a week. This helps us build momentum and gives you consistent support as you begin your journey. Over time, as you make progress and feel more confident, we can adjust the schedule—meeting more often if you need extra support or less often if that feels right for you. The goal is to find a pace that works best for your needs.
May I include family members in my therapy sessions?
In individual therapy, the focus is on you and your personal goals. Because of that, family members or others typically don’t join these sessions since they are not my client. This helps keep the space private and centered on your needs. However, if there’s a specific situation where having a family member present could support your progress or help with something important, we can talk about it and decide together if it would be helpful. My priority is making sure whatever we do benefits you and your therapy goals.
